Past Events


On March 5, 2017 over 65 guests attended the Foundation’s speakers event featuring local author Michael Oates and CSUF academic and modern Mexican historian Dr. Stephen Neufeld.  From the pages of Oates’ novel, The Stones in the Field, to the real-life social, political and economic impact of headline grabbing news, the author and academic discussed kidnapping for ransom.  Both speakers had signed books available and light refreshments were served.

The Ron Kobayashi Trio and Vocalist Elena Gilliam

Sunday, September 10th at 2:00 p.m.  Fullerton Public Library Community Room

Ron has performed with a variety of musical artists including Mel Torme, Kenny Burrell, Peter
Frampton, Tom Scott, Margaret Whiting, Peter White, Najee, Eric Marienthal and comedian Bob Saget. Ron has
made numerous television appearances including The Johnny Yune Show, The Jerry Lewis Telethon, The
CBS Evening News with Dan Rather. Ron’s Trio (with Baba Elefante on bass and Steve Dixon on drums)
has been together for more than 20 years. Elena Gilliam has officially been recognized by the City
of Los Angeles as a Jazz Living Legend, having performed for decades throughout the Southland.
